EDWARD M. DECTER, M.D., F.A.C.S
Dr.
Decter has a vast and varied background in the most demanding area of
orthopaedic surgery - Sports Medicine, an expertise for which he has
widely consulted. He also has a lifelong interest in sports medicine,
stretching back to his own highly successful career as a high school
and college athlete.
In his sports medicine practice, Dr. Decter focuses
on the reconstruction of injured knees and shoulders.
Dr. Decters reputation extends beyond his much sought-after
skills in general orthopaedic surgery. He is recognized for bringing
these unique skills to the professional sports field, where he is head
orthopaedic surgeon to the NY/NJ MetroStars (professional soccer).
In the past, Dr. Decter was head orthopaedic surgeon
for the New Jersey Gladiators of the Arena Football League and the New
Jersey Storm (professional lacrosse), and served as consultant and team
physician to the Tahuichi Soccer Academy, the NJ Cosmos, YM-YWHA Senior
Olympics, the U.S. Maccabiah Team and the West Orange Sports Medicine
Center. He studied at the University of Maryland and at Creighton University
School of Medicine.
Dr. Decter is affiliated with the Saint Barnabas Medical
Center, the HealthSouth Roseland Surgical Center, as well as Short Hills
Surgery Center. He was recently accepted into the prestigious, highly
selective American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Decter is associated with the Center for Orthopaedics
in West Orange, New Jersey, the areas premiere group practice offering
the entire range of orthopaedic treatment and surgery.
